Editorial policy
Short answer
Best Book Apps is funded by affiliate commissions and nothing else. Scores are set before we look for affiliate programs, the full score sheet is published on every review, prices carry the date they were checked, and corrections ship with a dated changelog entry rather than a silent edit.
How we make money
Affiliate commissions on some links, and nothing else. No sponsored reviews, no paid placements, no 'partner picks', no advertorial dressed as a guide. If a company pays us to appear somewhere, that page does not exist.
Scores are finalised before anyone checks whether an affiliate program exists for that app. Several apps we recommend most highly pay us nothing at all, and we say so on their reviews.
How scores are protected
Every review publishes the full score sheet: eight criteria, their weights, and the number we gave each one. You can add them up. If a ranking ever looks bought, the arithmetic is right there to check it against.
No company gets a preview of a score, an embargo deal, or a chance to respond before publication. Corrections of fact are welcome afterwards, from anyone.
Corrections and dates
Prices and terms change constantly. Every price prints the date it was checked, every score prints a confidence flag, and every substantive change is recorded in the page changelog with a date. Silent edits are not allowed. Write to corrections@bestbookapps.com and a wrong number gets fixed with a date attached.
What we refuse to publish
No clinical or diagnostic framing: we review apps, not people's attention or brains. No content aimed at children, because reviewing software for kids responsibly demands safeguarding work we are not set up to do. No AI-generated review copy. No affiliate-driven inclusion of apps that fail their own lock-in table.
We also refuse the false certainty that makes review sites useless. Where something has not been measured, the page says so instead of inventing a figure.
Some links earn us a commission. Commissions never move a rank, and every score is set before anyone checks whether a program exists.
